Riot for Relief - Punks For Palestine

Doors open at 7 p.m. on April 4 for Punks for Palestine, a free benefit concert put together by the Milwaukee Young Democratic Socialists of America to raise money for humanitarian aid in Palestine.

The concert is free to all, with the show starting at 8 p.m. on the evening of the 4th at Zao MKE in Milwaukee. While donations are strongly encouraged, attendees will also be able to purchase treats and soft drinks and buy locally made art. All profits made, apart from band merchandise, will go toward the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.

The show will feature five bands from the Milwaukee and Madison punk, metal and rock scenes.

Blind Hill will kick it off with some heavy guitar riffs like those in their high-octane single “Headbangers Ball.”

Next up will be Fake My Death, another Milwaukee-based band. The group’s sound is composed of layered vocals and distorted instrumentals in songs like “Anticipator” and “Linoleum Estates.” They describe Car Seat Headrest, Title Fight and the Wiggles as some of the bands that inspire their music.

Third in the line-up is Madison-based In Ropes. With a post-punk, shoegaze style, In Ropes combines distorted guitar with pronounced bass and complex drum sections.

Second to last in the lineup will be Sublet, a small punk group from Milwaukee with heavily distorted guitars and drums.

Finally, Nihilism, another band from Madison, will end the show. Like the other groups that will be playing at Zao, Nihilism brings a punky, heavy metal vibe. In their 2024 EP “Living Kills,” songs like “Useless Flesh” feature deep, guttural vocals and mean guitar riffs.
