Battle of the Bands 2026: Midwest Musicians Fight for the Crown

Written by: Stephanie Serrano | November 3, 2026

Prowl Radio’s fourth annual Battle of the Bands closed off 2026 Fall Welcome with a night of rock and indie music in Spaights Plaza. The event brings four bands from around the Midwest to compete for the title, which is decided by the audience.

Siloh, Repeat Player, Aergo and Posse each took the stage before the crowd voted on their favorite for the night. This year, Siloh took the crown.

Ian Dugenske, Prowl Radio’s station manager, credits Battle of the Bands as his introduction to the alternative music scene and introduced him to his current best friends.

“Prowl Radio consists of all these alternative, indie kids,” said Dugenske. “The org hosts these types of events so all those type of people can come together, and that’s how people network, find out about local shows, bands, and whatnot. I think being able to create a beacon or center point for people like this is important.”

This year, Prowl Radio received 40 band applications, a huge increase seen from the nine bands that applied last year. Some groups applied from out of state and even out of the country, including Texas, California, New York, Ireland, Ecuador and Estonia, according to Prowl Radio records.
